President Donald Trump Suspends All US Travel From Europe

President Donald Trump says the United States is suspending all travel to and from Europe for the next 30 days in an effort to reduce the spread of Coronavirus. The drastic measure will go into effect on Friday at midnight.

Europe, particularly Northern Italy, has become an epicenter for the deadly contagion.

“We will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight. These restrictions will are be adjusted subject to conditions on the ground,” the President said from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening.

Exceptions will be made for Americans “who have undergone appropriate screenings” and the United Kingdom is exempt. The US has more than 1,200 cases of novel coronavirus. By comparison Italy has confirmed over 12,000 cases of the virus in their country.
