Eight African-American Museums (or Collections) You Can Tour Virtually

Just because Coronavirus doesn’t want you to be great doesn’t mean you have to listen. Soon enough we’ll be able to leave our homes and socialize, before returning to the next most important thing: traveling. Until then, TravelCoterie is coming up with ways to help us all fix that jet-setting itch from the comfort of our screens. One way is by taking a virtual tour of these eight African-American museums or focused collections.

From art and photography to sculpture and sports memorabilia, Google has done an incredible job of working with institutions on cataloguing these #ForTheCulture collections and making them available for us to enjoy.

1. The Studio Museum in Harlem

2. Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture

“The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a museum that seeks to understand American history through the lens of the African American experience. The only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture, it was established by Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans.”

3. DuSable Museum of African American History
